My mother has had this cancer for over five years. She too smoked many years
when this was detected. She was fortunate, she was able to have it removed,
along with part of the lung. She chose to follow it up with radiation
therapy. Chemo is also an alternative. They have many today that do not
make you very ill. One type is Navelbine, the other Taxol and cysplatim
(sp?). You may want to check into these.
I hope your husband's case is operable, there is the greatest change of
survival in this case. If you havent already, contact the cancernet. It
will give you a great deal of information. If you are not already aware,
there is a listnet called Cancer-L that may give you more information.
Unfortunately for me my mother has had a recurrence 5 years later. We are
now again looking for possibilities. I will keep you informed of any other
types of treatment if I hear of them. Please do the same for me.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your husband.
