Hi All, I am writing about a new support group available to all.It is a
Support Group For Cancer Survivors & Families & Friends. It is called
#OncoChat. Many Family members and survivors have come into the room. We
keep it respectable. Very professional and grown up attitudes. The line is
open all the time since it is just starting and people are learning how to
use irc programs it's kind of wait for some one to show. I am there alot all
diffrent times of day. We are from Alaska, I usually get on about noon for
an hour or two. Then anytime after 6:00pm Barb gets on, then I go on again
after 9:00pm. I am sending you all instructions so if you don't need them
pass them on to others who may ask you how does one get to us. Thanks for
writing and welcome aboard. We hope to hear from you soon.
If you have Mirc, or irc program already installed, there's propably a Icon
for it in Windows, click on it. When it opens you will have to go to the
yellow folder click on it, setup information. click on it you should have
servers already in there to reach us you will have to go through a undernet
server. Once your in there highlight the server you want or type in the
server you want. Then click on connect and you should get there. If it
doesn't connect right away keep trying. If it still doesn't work try
another. In time you will connect. Anyway, words will pass through the
little widow. when you see the word (command) you will know you connected.
Then there will be a black line flashing below the words that is where you,
Type: /join #OncoChat . If you don't have Mirc, and do get it follow the
instructions below. Otherwise ignore the the instructions on how to install
unzipp, Mirc. The other list is the servers we use. Hope this isn't to
confusing, if mine are to confusing Barb's version is right under mine.
Here are the steps you should take....
Go to file manager
go to c:\netscape
alt-f select create directory
type mirc
drag and drop the mirc.zip and pkunzip files to this new directory
highlight mirc39.zip
press alt-f select run
type pkunzip mirc39.zip
these steps will unzip your file
next go to your netscape program group
press alt-f select new...select new item
type Mirc on the first line
typeC:\netscape\mirc\mirc.exe on the second line
type C:\netscape\mirc on the third line
select change icon
scroll to C:\windows\moricons.dll
this will give you a vide selection of icons to choose from that have more
"eye" appeal than the one that comes with this program
once you have done this, open the program...the set-up file is a little
yellow folder on the top, open that and enter the information (name,
nick-name, e-mail address, and server choice). Once you have logged onto
your service, click on the Mirc icon, click on the lightning bolt, wait for
it to connect (it will need to scroll a screen of info to you), type :
/join #OncoChat, enter ...and you should be there. Barbs nick is Sapphos, mine is
Whyt Tigr. Barb wrote these instructions out because mine were not being
understood. I hope this helps. Let us know if they work. If yoiu have
problems just give us a note. Huggs, Barb & White Tiger
